The 2018 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) will see the debut of the fifth-generation Subaru Forester, which is being teased here. Based on the sole image presented, the Forester will feature C-shaped taillights that are already present on the fourth-generation (SJ) model. On the new car, they appear a lot more dynamic than before and occupy a smaller footprint as well.

Expect the front headlamps to follow a similar theme, while the rest of the design may be largely inspired by the Viziv Future Concept from the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. The Subaru Global Platform, which is already used for the latest Impreza and XV, will underpin the upcoming SUV model.

The brand’s four-cylinder boxer engines (including hybrid), CVT and Symmetrical All Wheel Drive system will likely feature on the Forester as well, along with a range of EyeSight driver assistance and safety systems. More details will be revealed when the new Forester debuts on March 28 in New York.
