The Triumph Bonneville Scrambler 1200 has been
spotted testing. The bike is an off-road friendly version of the Bonneville
T120.
The Triumph Bonneville Scrambler 1200 features
raised handlebars with knuckle guards, and ribbed seat for comfort. The foot
peg position is also apt for stand-up riding. The aluminium bash-plate protects
the underside of the twin cradle frame. Inside the frame is a 1200 cc
parallel twin unit with liquid cooling and fuel injection. Expect the bike to
use the Triumph Bonneville Bobber’s torque-rich mill. In the Bobber, it makes
77 PS at 6,100 rpm and 106 Nm at 4,000 rpm.
Coming to the suspension components, instead of
using the traditional front fork and twin rear shocks, Triumph has employed
Showa upside down front fork; and twin Ohlins gas-charged shock absorbers at
the rear. Motorcycle News (MCN) reports that the rear swingarm is lengthened;
and is likely to have 200 mm of suspension travel.
The front end uses twin discs with Brembo radial
callipers. The rear features a disc, and both brakes get ABS. The spoke wheels
are shod with knobby tires for optimum off-road performance. The news website
reports that Triumph may showcase the bike at this year’s EICMA show in
November; and the production version may enter the market next year.
