An Audi RS6 based on the recently unveiled C8 model
will, inevitably, be launched at some point, but until Ingolstadt launches it,
let’s see what it could look like. Rendered as an Avant, which will most likely
be the only body style of the new-gen A6 to get the RS treatment, it adds a few
visual tweaks compared to the regular models.
As imagined by AscarissDesign, the super estate has
different front and rear bumpers, a new grille with a honeycomb pattern and the
RS logo, a slightly lowered ground clearance and new, quite big, wheels.
However, there’s more than meets the
eye, as the new RS6 will benefit from chassis tweaks, a sportier suspension and
better brakes, to cope with the power that will be channeled to both axles.
Speaking of which, it’s been reported that the
Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate rival could use the same powertrain as the Porsche
Panamera S-E Hybrid, which means a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with an electric
motor and a 14.1kWh lithium-ion battery. The PHEV develops 680 PS and
850 Nm of torque in the Porsche, but it’s unknown if it will remain
the same or be slightly downgraded for the Audi.
The range-topping member of the new A6 family is
apparently nearly two years away, as it’s expected to arrive before 2020,
whereas the lesser S6, with a rumored 450+ HP, should arrive in 2019.
The digital artist has imagined the new Audi RS6 as
a sedan too, but it’s probably just an exercise as there’s a slim chance that
we will get to see an RS6 in saloon guise.
