Bugatti is bringing the Chiron Sport at the New York
Auto Show for its North American premiere. The new version of the Bugatti
hypercar claims to offer sharper handling and even greater agility to those who
want their Chiron a bit spicier and having the ability to lap the Nardo test
track five seconds faster than the normal Chiron.
Bugatti has left the quad-turbo W16 untouched, which
means the Chiron Sport continues to offer 1,500 hp, and instead focused on
making small changes into the chassis components: the suspension is now
utilizing 10 percent stiffer dampers, the steering system is recalibrated and
there more carbon fiber than before. Bugatti claims that the suspension changes
take effect with the Handling mode engaged.
Add on top of that a set of new lightweight alloy
wheels and the world’s first carbon fiber windscreen wipers and the Bugatti
Chiron Sport manages to drop 18 kg from the normal Chiron’s weight
figure. There’s also Dynamic Torque Vectoring and a retuned rear differential.
The slightly sharper Chiron Sport also gets an
interior with the usual exposed carbon-fiber elements and special ‘Chiron
Sport’ logos on places like the centre console and door sills.
If you happen to be an existing Chiron owner, Bugatti will happily convert your hypercar to the
Sport specification if you feel the need to.
The basic price for the Bugatti Chiron Sport in the
U.S. market is set at a heart-stopping US$ 3.26 million, including transport, customs
duties, taxes and fees. The first customer cars are expected to be delivered at
the end of the year.
