Some Chinese automakers are well-known for copying
the design of several vehicles made in Western markets, while adding their own
technology beneath the body. With that in mind, meet the K-One – a crossover
that has a front end very similar to some modern Mercedes-Benz cars. Due to its
compact size, we’ll just call it a GLA clone.
According to AutoHome, the K-One is 4,100 mm long, 1,710 mm wide and 1,595 mm tall, with a 2,520 mm wheelbase. This means that it’s a bit smaller than the real
Mercedes-Benz GLA, although it weighs about the same at 1,400 kg.
Despite having what appear to be fake exhaust pipes,
this Chinese vehicle is said to be fully electric. Local media reports that it
uses an electric motor for propulsion, which makes 130 PS, backed up by
a lithium-ion battery pack that’s produced by Harbin Coslight Power, a company
founded in 1998. It’s allegedly capable of reaching a top speed of 102 km/h.
No details about its range have been announced at
this point, but let’s just say that it’s unlikely that it would pose a threat
to the Tesla Model X or Jaguar I-Pace. It would have been interesting to catch
a glimpse of the interior, and also to know how much it will cost in China once
it goes on sale, but we will likely learn more about it in the near future, so
watch this space for possible updates.
