Volkswagen plans on giving the eighth generation
Passat a mid-life refresh, with the unveiling taking place in the coming
months. The 2019 Volkswagen Passat is part of an
offensive that counts 22 new models this year, including 9 aimed solely at the
Chinese market.
Unlike its North American counterpart, the B8
generation rides on the MQB platform, shared with a multitude of vehicles
within the Group. The new facelifted version will likely bring redesigned
lighting units on both ends, some minor revisions in the cabin, and probably a
few technical upgrades.
Meanwhile, a fully electric version of the new-gen
Jetta will be launched in China later this year, using the Bora moniker. It
will join the e-Golf, which is now produced locally, and a plug-in hybrid
version of the long-wheelbase Tiguan.
Of course, one of the most anticipated vehicles of
the year is the new generation Touareg, set to be presented on March 23. The
automaker’s push will continue with the T-Roc Cabriolet, scheduled to arrive at
the beginning of 2020.
