While this Range Rover SV Convertible is just a
rendering, the British automaker has experimented with roofless SUVs before,
resulting in the drop-top Evoque.
Visit most official Land Rover websites and you’ll
see that the Evoque Convertible is still there, being sold, despite not
receiving the most favorable reviews from the Press. Still, it’s the “world’s
first luxury compact SUV convertible,” as stated by Land Rober, and being first
into a new niche might count for a lot when dealing with premium products.
So what if the same recipe were to be applied to the
bigger Range Rover? Is a convertible version that much more unlikely than a
coupe? The latter is already here, albeit as a limited edition, so what’s
stopping Land Rover from cutting its roof off and one-upping the new SV Coupe’s
£ 240,000 (US$ 333,000) price tag?
Well, we guess it depends on how many customers
would be interested in such a model. If a sufficient number expressed their
intention to buy one, we guess the end-product would probably look a lot like
this render. It mustn’t have been that hard for Aksyonov Nikita, who took the
SV Coupe and just deleted the roof.
