The McLaren 720S has already proved that it’s faster
on the drag strip than many more powerful cars. Nevertheless, owners who would
like even more power than the 720 PS and 770 Nm (the twin-turbo
4.0-liter V8 generates in stock form can check out what Wheelsandmore has in
store.
The German tuner offers a two-stage upgrade for the
supercar. Stage 1 adds an extra 50 PS and 80 Nm of torque, and
with the Stage 2 tune the 720S is good for 800 PS and 880 Nm.
Remapping the ECU and throwing in a new exhaust
system, which is what this tuning job is all about, has probably shaved
something off the 720S’ 2.9-second 0-100 km/h time, though
Wheelsandmore didn’t divulge any performance figures.
The 720S also gets height-adjustable lowering
springs and aftermarket wheels with body colored outer parts. The rims, which
are available in three patterns (FIWE, FORK or 6Sporz²) measure 9.5×20-inch at
the front and 11.5×20 or 12×21-inch at the rear and are wrapped in Pirelli
tires.
The smaller set is said to be suitable for
“permanent or sporadic use on the racetrack”, whereas the larger is best for
“maximum optics” – that is, looking good…
