In November last year, sketches of the Proton Savvy
18 concept were released by MIMOS as a suggestion of what a successor to the
original might look like. At the time, only the vehicle’s exterior was shown,
but we are now being treated to a glimpse of the vehicle’s interior.
These new sketches continue to be the work of
Saharudin Busri, the lead designer and an owner of the first-generation Savvy.
Like the exterior, the interior is both a look to the future and the past, with
suitable cues affirming the latter.
A revamped dashboard is the first thing that catches
your eye, one that sports circular and angular features. The air-con vents,
instrument binnacle both conform to cylindrical shapes, while the frame for the
large infotainment screen is more hexagonal in appearance.
Elsewhere, a textured gear knob can be found on the
centre console, which merges with the centre stack that has the engine starter
button and a rotating dial control on it. The most established homage to the original
are the vehicle’s gauges, which retain the yellow background as before.
Obviously, the dials have been updated quite a bit,
with the one on the left appearing very Ferrari-esque. The right one takes on a
more “chrono look,” with three gauges nestled in the middle. A multi-info
coloured display is positioned between the dials.
The steering wheel, like the first-gen, is a
three-spoke unit but is much sportier in look here. The centre boss has ‘18’
written on it, while controls for the media system can be found on the spokes
as well.
