Mahindra currently has two EVs in its passenger
vehicle line-up: Mahindra e2OPlus and Mahindra e-Verito. In addition to the
Mahindra e-KUV100 that debuted at Auto Expo 2018, the company plans to launch a
pure electric sedan and a pure electric SUV.
The new Mahindra electric sedan is likely to be
positioned above the Mahindra e-Verito. In all probability, the new MESMA
(Mahindra Electric Scalable Modular Architecture) platform will underpin this
model. The new Mahindra electric sedan’s powertrain will deliver a maximum
power output of 68 PS and use a 380-volt NMC (Nickel Manganese
Cobalt) battery pack. This model will have a top speed of 110 km/h and a range
of 156 km/h.
The Mahindra electric SUV, also likely to be based
on the MESMA platform, will use a 380-volt NMC battery pack. Employing the most
powerful powertrain in Mahindra’s EV line-up, rated at 90 kW, the Mahindra
electric SUV will have a top speed of 150 km/h. This 5-seat SUV will have a
range of 250 km.
Mahindra plans to expand its range of EVs in the CV
space as well. The company will launch two new buses, one with a 100 km/h range
and the other with a 150 km range. The former, called Mahindra eCosmo, will
accommodate 32 passengers. The latter will accommodate 40 passengers. Both will
have a top speed of 70 km/h. Two electric rickshaws called Mahindra eRick and
Mahindra Treo Auto are also planned.
