At the 2016 Sao Paulo Motor Show, Renault unveiled the Renault Kwid Outsider concept. According to a report from Motor1 Brazil, the company will introduce this model’s production version in Brazil in January 2019.

The Renault Kwid Outsider was specially designed by Renault Design Latin America for the 2016 edition of the Sao Paulo Motor Show. Renault said that the concept, flaunting versatility and robustness, “is a styling exercise in terms of colours and materials to highlight the best-in-segment driving position, a ground clearance comparable to that of a midsize SUV, and good attack and departure angles.”

The Renault Kwid Outsider concept features extra body cladding, silver skid plates and roof rails to look even more like an SUV. It has funky green exterior accents and orange interior accents to add a dash of sportiness with the tougher styling. Most of the features, if not all, should make it to the production version.

The Brazilian-spec Renault Kwid is powered by a flex-fuel version of the 1.0-litre SCe three-cylinder engine. This engine produces 66 hp and 92 Nm of torque running on petrol. Running on ethanol, its maximum power and maximum torque increases to 70 hp and 96 Nm respectively. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard.
