India Kawasaki has launched the 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 400 in India. The bike has
been priced at INR 4,69,000, ex-showroom Delhi. It is assembled at Kawasaki’s
plant in Chakan, Pune.
The 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 400 features an all-new
engine and chassis. The bike boasts a futuristic styling inspired by the
legendary Ninja H2. Chin spoilers at the bottom of the front cowl draw
inspiration from the Ninja H2 and Ninja ZX-10R. The twin headlights are all-LED
units. The LED taillight design, inspired by the 2016 Ninja ZX- 10R,
contributes to the sharp rear-end design. The Ninja 400 is equipped with the
same analogue-digital combo cluster as the Ninja 650. The Ninja 400 will be
available in green colour (KRT Edition). The riding ergonomics is relaxed yet
sporty, making it a potent sports tourer.
Powering the 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 400 is a new 399 cc
parallel twin engine with a new downdraft intake and larger airbox. The cover
for the radiator fan directs heat away from the rider, making it easy to ride
in the city as well. The powerplant is good for 49 PS at 10,000 rpm and 38 Nm
at 8,000 rpm. Pairing with the engine is a 6-speed transmission. The engine
sits inside the h2-inspired trellis frame. Brakes include 310 mm front and 220
mm rear petal disc, with ABS.
Comparing the Ninja 300, this motorcycle is INR
1,09,000 more expensive. But for the premium, customers get a much more
powerful bike with dual-channel ABS as standard. However, the pricing is
dangerously close to the Kawasaki Z650, which is only INR 30,000 more expensive
than the Ninja 400.
