BMW has big expectations from its X series models in
India. The company is firm on launching the BMW X4 for the first time in the
country in 2019.
The first-gen BMW X4 was never sold in India. In the
latest, BMW Group India President Vikram Pawah has reaffirmed the plan to bring
the all-new BMW X4 to our shores. With the BMW X4 joining the line-up, BMW
expects 50% of its sales to come from its SAVs and SACs.
Competing with the Mercedes GLC Coupe, the BMW X4 is
a coupe-styled version of the BMW X3. The X4 is 14 mm longer than the X3 and 36
mm lower to the ground. For the feeling of a typical sports coupe, the driver
and front passenger in the X4 sit 20 mm lower and the rear passengers sit 28 mm
lower in this model. The X4 has a distinctive rear-end, with slimmer, L-shaped
LED tail lights as the key design element for differentiation.
The BMW X4 will likely arrive in India in CKD kits,
with the assembly taking place at the BMW Group Plant Chennai. Also, the
all-new BMW X3 petrol will go on sale, sometime this year.
