We’re just weeks away before BMW launches the
Competition Package for the F90 M5, but details of the more powerful
super-sedan have allegedly been leaked. A Bimmerpost member from Australia
claims that he placed an order for a BMW M5 Competition Package and therefore
was given the first key specs by the dealership.
The twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 in the Competition
Package models will gain 28hp over the standard M5 for a total of 616 hp (625 PS)
while the suspension will be lower by 7mm at the front and by 10mm at the rear.
Other features of the M5 Competition Package will
include a standard sports exhaust system with model-specific tuning that will
allow the V8 to produce a more evocative soundtrack, a carbon fiber engine
cover as standard and black badging on the exterior.
The same source also claims that the price for the
Competition Package on the M5 is AUD 20,000 over the normal model, with BMW
allocating just 20 cars for Australia this year. Dealers in Australia will
receive the official full specs of the M5 Competition from BMW in April, which
should mean that the model will be revealed around the same time.
All this information sounds like the real thing, if
you consider that the Competition Package for the current M3 and the previous
M5 offer similar performance upgrades over the standard model.
