McLaren arrived at the this year’s Beijing Auto Show with a special version of its 570GT. Though still made in the UK, it’s been designed in China specifically for the Chinese market.

Called the Cabbeen Collection, it stems from a collaboration with a Chinese fashion designer who goes only by the name Mr. Cabbeen. Aesthetically, it’s decked out in Obsidian Black with a dragon motif, the latter being hand-painted on the doors in Gloss Speedline Gold, a color also found on the wheels and calipers.

Inside, the Alcantara-trimmed center console and rear luggage deck feature more dragon designs. These are hand-stitched by Kang Huifang, director of embroidery at China’s Arts and Crafts Institute and a specialist in traditional Chao embroidery.

The 570GT is McLaren’s idea of a grand tourer. It still packs a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 in the middle of a two-seat carbon-fiber monocoque chassis. But atop that engine, there’s an extra luggage compartment (called the “touring deck”) to give it extra space. It also has a softer setup than the 570S and more subtle design accents.

Following its debut at the Beijing Auto Show this week, the automaker will produce a total of just five examples. This is the second market-specific special edition that MSO has released this month, following the similarly limited 570S Spider released for Canada.
