Bikesmedia is reporting that the new TVS Star City
110 has been spotted testing in Chennai. The number plate suggests that the
bike is registered in Hosur, where the company has its plant.
The bike was spotted without camouflage and was
carrying a pillion, presumably for testing under load in urban environment. The
overall design of the motorcycle is similar to the current generation Star
City. The powerplant bears the same TVS logo as the current generation bike.
However, the test mule is supposed to sport a different engine, likely the
109.7 cc 3-valve Ecothrust mill from the Victor 110 for possibly complying with
future emission norms, apart from power advantages. Bikesmedia reports that the
engine may also be a 4-valve unit. However, there is no official information
from TVS yet.
The cycle parts seem to be the same as the current
generation motorcycle. The TVS Star City 110 rides on telescopic front fork and
twin rear shock absorbers. Brakes include 130 mm front and 110 mm rear drum. At
present, the price of the TVS Star City + starts from INR 45,991, ex-showroom,
Delhi for the kick-start alloy wheel variant. It was reported in February, this
year that an entry-level commuter from TVS is under development.
