The Nikola Zero isn’t just the first electric UTV of
its kind but apparently good enough to catch the attention of none other than
the U.S. military.
A bunch of U.S. marines recently had the chance to
test out the all-electric UTV, presumably to see if it’s up for the task of
eventually joining its fleet of combat vehicles. When equipped with camouflage
and a huge gun on the roof, it certainly looks the part.
Production of the Nikola Zero electric UTV commenced
in the second half of 2017 and while it doesn’t have the thunderous soundtrack
of more traditional UTVs, it is more than capable from a performance
standpoint.
As a matter of fact, the range-topping Zero adopts a
125 kWh battery pack and delivers 555 hp and 490 lb-ft of torque. Factor in
gear reduction, and that torque figure rises to 4,900 lb-ft. With four people
inside, the Zero will launch to 96 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. As this
video proves, it also has the agility to tackle extremely difficult terrain
without a worry in the world.
