Renault has launched the Kwid Climber in South
Africa as a limited edition model. The Renault Kwid Climber is restricted to
200 examples priced at ZAR 148,900. It's available in
Electric Blue and Planet Grey colour options.
Much like the Renault Kwid Climber sold in India,
the South Africa-spec model gets exterior enhancements that add to the
SUV/crossover look of the entry-level hatchback. It gets a Climber insignia and
protection claddings on the doors along with orange exterior mirrors, rugged
fog lamp housings, and silver finish with orange highlights on the front
bumper. The roof rails get matching orange detailing as well. Exclusive to the
Kwid Climber limited edition are 6-spoke alloy wheels.
Inside, the piano black centre fascia is finished
with orange contours to match the overall theme. Orange highlights can also be found on the
upholstery inscribed with the Climber insignia, door trims, side air vents, and
gear knob as well. The 3-spoke steering wheel features unique orange
perforations as well as a Climber insignia.
The Renault Kwid Climber for South Africa is based
on the range-topping Dynamique trim with a 1.0 L petrol engine producing 50 kW
and 91 Nm paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. It costs around ZAR 11,000
more than the regular Kwid Dynamique. Renault imports the Kwid from India for
the African market.
