A rare 1961 Jaguar E-Type 3.8 Coupe will be
auctioned off on May 19th at Silverstone racing circuit, with the auction house
estimating a haul of anywhere between £ 80,000 to £ 100,000 (US$ 109,000 – US$ 136,400).
Its chassis number, #860100, points to this being
the 100th right-hand drive E-Type fixed head coupe, making this British classic
even more special. While the car was originally painted Opalescent Silver Blue,
it now features a Carmen Red exterior.
Underneath the car’s bonnet lies its original
3.8-liter 6-cylinder engine, which in 2004 underwent a full rebuilt at VSE
Engineering. Since then, it has only covered 1,931 km. The E-Type
also received a full brake rebuild, a Tan leather re-trim, new fuel tank, full stainless
steel exhaust and the previously mentioned paint job.
Included in the sale are the driver’s handbook,
heritage certificate, receipts for £ 14,000’s worth of work done, plus the VSE
engine rebuild datasheet.
