The Oldsmobile Intrigue was never too intriguing and
production wrapped up after five years following General Motors’ decision to
shutter the brand. Countless models are now available on Craigslist for less
than US$ 2,000 but a special Intrigue recently popped up on eBay for US$ 19,500.
While that’s nearly ten times the price of a standard Intrigue, the model in
question is the Intrigue OSV concept from 2000.
Designed to hint at a possible performance model,
the Intrigue OSV concept was equipped with a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 engine
which produced 260 hp and 352 Nm of torque. That
might not sound like much by today’s standards but it was a significant
improvement over the naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 which developed 215 hp and 316 Nm of torque.
The Intrigue’s four-speed automatic transmission
carried over but Oldsmobile wanted the OSV concept to appeal to driving
enthusiasts. As a result, engineers installed Koni springs and struts as well
as Brembo brakes.
Besides the performance upgrades, the car was
equipped with sportier bodywork, a center-mounted Borla dual exhaust system and
19-inch alloy wheels. The minor styling changes continued in the cabin as the
concept has Recaro front seats, titanium pedals and red leather accents on the
steering wheel and shifter.
The concept only has 793 km on it and
the US$ 19,500 price is for the buy it now option. The Florida dealer which is
offering the car is also accepting offers so here’s your chance to buy a piece
of Oldsmobile history.
This isn’t the first time the car has gone up for
sale on the auction site but it is US$ 2,000 cheaper this time around. That may
not sound like much but it’s enough to buy a standard Intrigue and have a
little left over.
