Usually, when folks talk classic old-school SUVs,
the conversation includes models like the Willys Jeep, Land Rover Series 1, and
the Toyota Land Cruiser. People forget, however, that Nissan had a pretty stellar
vehicle that certainly deserves more attention than it’s garnered – the Patrol
4×4. Interestingly enough, this oft-forgotten SUV would go on to become what is
now known as the Armada. Though they are few and far between, a 1969 year-model
just recently hit the auction block.
The rarity of this particular vehicle is bolstered
by the great condition that its in, for which a recent refurbishment is chiefly
responsible. This off-roader has been cleaned up, both outside and in and has
even had a new engine dropped into it – a Chevy 292ci inline-six, to be exact.
It still retains its original transmission, suspension, and differentials,
however. Now, it has just over 18,000 miles on the odometer and is ready for
much more adventure. Unfortunately, as of this article, it has already been
sold.
