Mercedes-AMG E 53 Sedan will be available in the U.S. by late 2018, joining its Coupe
and Cabriolet siblings. The 2019 E 53 Sedan boasts a new 3.0-liter in-line 6
turbo engine with EQ Boost, fully variable all-wheel drive, larger brakes and
generous equipment features such as the AMG Performance Seats, carbon fiber
trim and more.
Compared to the previously mentioned E 43, which had
396 HP at its disposal, the new E 53 packs 429 HP. The torque figures remain basically the same, rated at 520 Nm.
Thanks to its nine-speed automatic gearbox and
AMG-tuned 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system, the E 53 can hit 96 km/h in
4.4 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited to 209
km/h with the help of the AMG Driver’s Package.
You can easily distinguish the E 53 Sedan from other
E-Class models by its new hood, which features two power domes. Other
noteworthy styling cues include the high-gloss chrome twin tailpipe trim
elements, a new diffuser and optional 20-inch AMG alloys which feature a twin
five-spoke design.
Inside, there are AMG Performance Seats with an
AMG-specific upholstery, available AMG Carbon Fiber trim, Mercedes‘ popular Widescreen
Cockpit design, ambient lighting, heated and ventilated seats and quite a lot
more.
One of the most important features found on the E 53
is its new AMG Performance steering wheel, finished in black Nappa leather with
red 12 o’clock markings. It also comes with touch-sensitive controls with allow
for swiping motions.
