Ford expanded the new Ford EcoSport range in India last week with the launch of a sporty ’S’ grade. The Ford EcoSport S’ prices start at INR 11.37 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Positioned above the Titanium+ grade, the S grade positions itself as the new range-topping grade of the Ford EcoSport. The EcoSport S is sportier than not only the EcoSport Titanium+, but also the new EcoSport Signature Edition. On the outside, it features smoked HID headlamps with dark inserts, blacked out grille, black-painted fog lamp bezels, roof and roof rails and unique 17-inch smoke alloy wheels. Like the new EcoSport Signature Edition, the EcoSport S comes with an electric sunroof.

Inside, the Ford EcoSport S is the only Ford EcoSport equipped with a 4.2-inch MID in India. Another unique feature here is the Satin Orange theme. There are orange accents on the seats, centre console and door panels. The grab bar on the dashboard is also finished in orange. The S grade gets all the safety features available in the Titanium+ grade, as well as a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

With the Ford EcoSport S, Ford has brought back the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol to India. The turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine develops 125 PS and 170 Nm of torque. The older version of this engine delivered the maximum power and maximum torque at 6,000 rpm and 1,400-4,500 rpm respectively in the pre-facelift EcoSport. It was linked to a 5-speed manual transmission. The updated version employed in the EcoSport S delivers the maximum power and maximum torque at 6,000 rpm and 1,500-4,500 rpm respectively. Moreover, it is coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Ford EcoSport S is available with the 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine as well. The turbocharged four-cylinder produces 100 PS at 3,750 rpm and 205 Nm of torque at 1,750-3,250 rpm. It sends power to the wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.
