Rolls Royce has launched the online configurator of
the new Cullinan, the brand’s first SUV, although the historic brand would like
you to call it a “high-sided vehicle”. The new Rolls Royce Cullinan aims to
represent the pinnacle of luxury in the SUV world, topping models like the
Bentley Bentayga and claiming the throne for itself.
One of the main selling points of the new Cullinan
is the notorious ‘Magic Carpet Ride’, which according to Rolls Royce is
delivered even on the toughest of terrains. The company has re-engineered the
self-leveling air suspension with larger air struts and more air volume in
order to cushion the driver and passengers from the outside world.
This is also the second model to be based upon the
latest ‘Architecture of Luxury’ platform, which is made out of aluminum and
debuted in the new Phantom. Power comes from a twin-turbo 6.75-liter V12 making
563 hp and 850 Nm of torque, with the latter available from
just 1,600 rpm.
The rear doors are
rear-hinged in order to offer easy access to its lavish interior. Customers
will be offered the option of a normal rear bench or a more exclusive two-seat
setup. A deployable glass partition can also be fitted behind the rear seats,
isolating the cabin even more from the outside world.
The split tailgate can also be fitted with a pair of
special picnic seats while the luggage space is rated at 560lt with the parcel
shelf. The new Rolls Royce Cullinan is without a doubt the most practical model
ever to come out of Goodwood but it’s still a true Rolls Royce in and out.
Rolls Royce’s configurator is a nice place to start playing with different
colors and interior trim options, whether you have the ability to purchase or
not.
