BMW is celebrating Germany’s participation in the
World Cup by unveiling a one-off M2 Competition with an assortment of M
Performance Parts. Dubbed the Germany Edition, the car has a black exterior
with red and gold accents which pay tribute to the country’s national colors. BMW installed a number of carbon fiber M
Performance parts including a hood, rear spoiler and diffuser. Perhaps the most
unique touch is the 19-inch M Performance wheels which are Jet Black and Frozen
Gold.
BMW didn’t release interior photos but the company
says the model has stainless steel pedal caps and an Alcantara-wrapped M
Performance steering wheel with a 12 o’clock marker. Drivers will also find
carbon fiber trim and Alcantara upholstery.
Rounding out the changes are an M braking system
with red calipers, a carbon fiber engine cover and a black M Performance Parts
logo on the windshield. The car also has a carbon fiber grille surround, carbon
fiber front fender vents and a unique M2 badge on the trunk.
The M2 Competition was unveiled earlier this year
and it features a detuned version of the twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder
engine that resides in the M3 and M4. The engine produces 405 hp and 550 Nm of torque which enables the car to accelerate from
0-96 km/h in four seconds flat when equipped with the optional
seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The car has a limited top speed of limited
top speed of 250 km/h but that can be increased to 280 km/h when equipped with the optional M Driver’s Package.
The BMW M2 Competition will go on the sale in the
United States this summer and the model will reportedly be priced from US$ 58,900.
