Previous generations of the Suzuki Jimny have proven
to be very capable off-road. Enthusiasts have tinkered with the small SUV to
enhance its capabilities and numerous examples of modified Suzuki Jimnys can be
found online. IAB's rendering imagines the new 2019 Suzuki Jimny as a hardcore
off-road machine.
Up front, the Suzuki Jimny off-road modifications
include a protective bullbar, a winch, and additional underbody protection in
the form of a bash plate. The bonnet gets an anti-glare black patch. The sides
feature additional body cladding along with tyre tread body decals and 4x4
stickering. Riveted wheel arch cladding and side steps add to the utilitarian
look.
The Jimny rides higher than the regular model with
BF Goodrich off-road tires wrapped around black alloy wheels. Other off-road
centric modifications include a snorkel, a luggage rack with auxiliary lights.
In its stock form, the JDM-spec Suzuki Jimny will be
offered with a 660 cc petrol engine and a 1.5 L petrol engine. Both variants
will be available with a part-time four-wheel drive with low range transfer
gear and 3-link rigid axle suspension. Transmission options include a 4-speed
torque converter automatic and a 5-speed manual. The 1.5 L engine Jimny Sierra
will be offered in two grades, while the one with the smaller engine will be
available in three grades.
