If you’ve ever wondered what happens when you
combine an Audi TT, a Chevrolet Corvette and a handful of 1930’s styling cues,
you’re in luck as there is a bizarre custom car up for grabs on eBay.
Looking a bit like a mutated Plymouth Prowler, this
one-off Corvette Bella Elan coupe reportedly required over 6,000 hours to create. The car is loosely based on a 1988 Corvette but it rides on a
new frame and features the cab from a 2001 Audi TT Coupe. The model also has
fenders from a 1937 Chevy, 1959 Corvette taillights and teak running boards.
Besides the hodgepodge of components, the car has a
retro-inspired grille and old school headlights. The designer also added
massive front fender vents, a huge trunk and probably one of the largest third
brake lights ever fitted to an automobile.
The unique styling carries over to the cabin as
there’s only a handful of touches from the Audi TT. The driver sits behind a
three-spoke steering wheel and will find themselves looking at custom black and
white gauges. The car also has heated leather seats, wood trim and a modern
audio system. While the styling won’t win everyone over, the eBay
listing says it was created to fulfill the “owner’s dream of a French Deco
style” car.
Performance specifications are lacking but the model
features a 1998 LS1 engine. This likely means the car has more than 300 hp. Regardless of the actual output, the engine is connected to an
automatic transmission which sends power to the rear wheels via a limited slip
differential.
The auction ends this weekend and the starting bid
is US$ 27,500. However, it hasn’t received any bids as of yet.
