According to Nissan, a resident from the Tochigi Prefecture donated a
GT-R to the local police force in Tochigi. The car was delivered earlier today
at a special ceremony and the automaker says it will soon enter service as a
patrol car.
Nissan didn’t say much else about the car but it
features a black and white livery with matching black wheels that cover orange
brake calipers. The GT-R has also been equipped with a large light bar that
appears to have a speaker up front. Rounding out the changes are police badging
and LED emergency lights in the grille.
Little else is known about the car but the model
appears to be brand new. As a result, it likely features a twin-turbo 3.8-liter
V6 engine with 565 hp and 632 Nm of torque. In
the latest GT-R, the engine is connected to a six-speed dual-clutch
transmission which sends power to an all-wheel drive system.
Regardless of the car’s specifications, the GT-R is
a pretty generous gift as U.S. pricing starts at US$ 99,990. Autoguide notes this
isn’t the first GT-R police car to enter service in Japan. The country is also
home to an R34 GT-R police car which has reportedly been in service for a
number of years and was spotted patrolling the streets as recently as 2016.
