We haven’t heard much from DSD Design &
Motorsport since the company unveiled the Boreas last year but they’re back in
the news as they have introduced the Golem. Created with the help of Master of
Transportation Design students from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia,
the Golem is a 1:1 scale prototype which reportedly previews a limited
production model.
Looking like a futuristic version of the Lamborghini
LM 002, the Golem draws its name from Jewish mythology where a giant could be
created from an inanimate material such as clay. Unlike the X-Files take on
this idea, the DSD Golem is a “brutal all-terrain vehicle” which features a
bold front fascia with slender headlights.
The aggressive styling continues further back as the
model has prominent fender flares and angular bodywork. The coupe also has a
rakish windscreen, integrated side steps and a muscular B-pillar. Other
highlights include a roof spoiler, distinctive taillights and black beadlock
wheels wrapped in beefy BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires.
According to Antonio Garrido, Technical Director of
the Master of Transportation Design program, the students worked on the project
for a year as part of an agreement between DSD and the university. DSD will now
fine-tune the student’s design and build a production model which will be
limited to 30 units.
Speaking of the production Golem, it is slated to
feature a V8 engine that produces 700 hp. It will be
connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive
system. Garrido also said the SUV will have a four-wheel steering system and be
offered in multiple configurations. The first is expected to be a pickup and
it’s not hard to imagine what it could look like.
The Golem was one of several different models which
were recently displayed during an exhibition of prototypes designed by
students. The 21 other models included concepts for brands such as Audi,
Bentley, Kia and Ferrari. A handful of pictures can be seen on the program’s
