MG Motors has announced that the MG X-motion Concept
will be launched as the “MG HS” in China, where sales will commence in the
second half of this year. The MG HS will have its world debut at the 2018
Chengdu Auto Show that opens on 31 August, 2018.
Along with the announcement, MG Motors released two
images of the MG HS, revealing its profile and headlamp design. The MG HS is
MG’s first SUV featuring headlights with bi-colour LED technology. The sleek
“hunter eye” headlights are connected to the silver frame of the “stellar field
grille”, which the company is yet to reveal in production guise. The front
bumper’s powerful contours seem to have remained. Conventional front fog lamps
have been incorporated in the production version.
On the sides, the MG HS features conventional
five-double-spoke alloy wheels in a two-tone finish in place of the dramatic
“Hurricane” alloy wheels. Such obvious changes are seen in case of the door
handles and mirrors as well. The beltline has been lowered to make the greenhouse
bigger.
The MG HS measures 4,574 mm in length, 1,876 mm in
width and 1,664 mm in height. It has a 2,720 mm wheelbase. Its engine options
will include 169 hp 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and 220 hp 2.0-litre
turbocharged petrol. 6-speed manual, 6-speed dual-clutch automatic and 7-speed
dual-clutch automatic are the expected transmission choices. An AWD system will
be available.
