After already presenting several new products these
past few months, Geely has unveiled the Emgrand GSe – an electric version of
the Emgrand GS, which will launch in China on June 9, with an estimated
starting price of approximately 110,000 yuan (US$ 17,135), after local subsidies.
Visually, it looks pretty much the same as the Geely
Emgrand GS, but the GSe does get a few styling updates. These are mostly
visible at the front, where there’s a new closed grille, along with a different
bumper.
The local media says that it’s powered by a 160
horsepower electric motor, which is backed up by a lithium-ion battery pack.
The latter weighs 380 kg, and gives it an average range of some 350 km, in between charges. At a constant cruising speed of 60 km/h,
the Geely Emgrand GSe can travel for up to 460 km.
Depending on how much one is willing to spend, the
zero-emission crossover can be had with LED headlights, panoramic sunroof, an
air-freshening system, wireless charging for mobile devices and voice control.
Customers will also have to choose between five
exterior colors called Sapphire Blue, Mars Red, Glass Orange, Amber Gold and
Ice Crystal.
