This latest batch of spy images
featuring Mercedes‘ all-new 2019 CLA points to clear differences in design
between this model and the recently-unveiled A-Class Sedan. This
prototype doesn’t have any plastic cladding and even though most of it remains
camouflaged, the fit is pretty tight, thus revealing some of its most important
exterior design elements.
This all-new model seems to have
almost the same shoulder line as the CLS, as well as a similar rear end with
teardrop-shaped horizontal taillights. As for the swoosh-like design line
across its doors, that seems to be borrowed from the new A-Class.
Te all-new
Mercedes CLA should also take after the A-Class when it comes to interior
design. We’d go as far as to say that we’d be pretty surprised if the dashboard
design and layout wasn’t pretty much identical to that of its 5-door cousin.
So expect it to feature Mercedes’
signature twin-digital displays running the MBUX infotainment system, ambient
lighting, a three-spoke steering wheel, revised air vents and a digital voice
assistant, among others.
An assortment of petrol and diesel units
should make their way into the 2019 CLA, such as the 163 PS 1.33-liter
turbo petrol, or the more potent 224 PS 2.0-liter four-pot. More
demanding customers will want to wait for either the AMG-tuned CLA 35 or the
CLA 45/50. The former is rumored to produce around 300 PS, whereas the latter
could put down upwards of 400 PS.
Mercedes is expected to unveil the 2019
CLA later on this year, which could see it visiting the 2018 Paris Motor Show
in October. Once out, the CLA will look to fend off Audi‘s A3 Sedan, while also
laying out the welcome mat for BMW’s 2-Series Gran Coupe model.
