Since the XC60’s market launch,
customers in the USA were offered only all-wheel drive versions of the Swedish
SUV – but that is about to change. For the 2019MY, Volvo is reportedly planning
to introduce a new entry-level, front-wheel drive version of the premium
mid-size SUV.
The T5 Momentum
version of the 2019 Volvo XC60 will gain a front-drive variant priced from US$ 39,200. Add to that a US$ 995 destination charge, and the base MSRP of the 2019
XC60 will come in at US$ 40,195, US$ 2,300 less than the current base price of US$ 42,495.
However, there’s a catch: higher trim
levels are going to get pricier, with increases worth up to US$ 3,550 due to Volvo
increasing their equipment. The R-Design and Inscription trim levels will come
with features like blind spot warning, park assist, a 12.3-inch navigation
system, a new 600W Harmon Kardon audio system, power folding mirrors and a
hands-free trunk lid as standard.
The biggest price increase will affect
the T6 Inscription model; its MSRP will be going up from US$ 49,695 to US$ 53,245,
but that will include a lot of the features previously offered in the optional
Convenience and Vision packages.
Prices for the all-wheel drive Momentum
models remain unchanged from the current US$ 42,495 for the T5 and US$ 45,895 for the
T6, but Volvo has removed the standard leather upholstery and replaced it with
leatherette. You can still have leather, but it’s now a US$ 1,600 option.
