This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed
will feature a special edition Ford Mustang GT, designed to pay tribute to U.S.
fighter pilots who served in the RAF during World War II. The car is inspired
by the RAF Eagle Squadrons that actually flew over the fields of Goodwood some
80 years ago. On this occasion, its pilot will be world champion drifter Vaughn
Gittin Jr, who’s going to drive it up the hill on July 12.
As a product of Ford Performance and
Gittin’s RTR Vehicles, this Mustang boasts a 700 HP 5.0-liter V8 engine, aided
by a supercharger, a carbon fiber wide-body kit (by RTR) and a Tactical
Performance suspension package. Following its debut at Goodwood, the car will
then make its way to the Experimental Aircraft Association’s largest
fundraiser, The Gathering, on July 26, where it will be auctioned off.
As for this teaser image, while taken
from above, it shows the car’s ultra-wide fenders (especially at the
rear), RAF livery and a longtail-style rear spoiler.
