Hyundai are looking to expand the i30 N series with a
second body style, the five-door Fastback. Spied recently while testing at
the Nurburgring, the prototype keeps the vinyl cladding, though we expect the
finished item to have sportier bumpers and side skirts than the rest of the
range, similar to the ones of the current i30 N.
Compared to the regular i30 Fastback, the N derivative will also come with a couple of oval exhaust pipes, larger wheels and the necessary chassis adjustments for sportier handling.
Compared to the regular i30 Fastback, the N derivative will also come with a couple of oval exhaust pipes, larger wheels and the necessary chassis adjustments for sportier handling.
The upcoming i30 N Fastback will arrive with the
same engine of its hot hatch sibling: a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder
offered with two outputs: 250 PS and 275 PS,
channeled to the front axle via a six-speed manual transmission.Similar
performance is expected from the sleeker looking model, which will almost
mirror the 6.4sec and 6.1sec, respectively, needed by the i30 N to complete the
0-100 km/h acceleration.
In the UK, pricing for the Hyundai i30 N starts from
£ 25,010 (US$ 32,935), tax included, whereas the more powerful version can be had
from £ 28,010 (US$ 36,885). Thus, we expect the i30 N Fastback to be priced in the
neighborhood of £ 30,000 (US$ 39,505), which will undercut the 310 PS Audi
S3 Saloon by more than £ 8,000 (US$ 10,535).
