McLaren has released the performance figures and all
the details of the new 600LT ahead of the model’s world debut at the Goodwood
Festival of Speed. The 600LT is the lightest, most powerful and capable road-legal Sport
Series model ever.
With the revised twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 providing
592 hp and 620 Nm of torque and a reduced, by 96 kg,
curb weight compared to a 570S, the new 600LT is capable of completing the
classic 0-100 km/h in 2.9 sec, matching the 675LT. Moreover, the new Macca will
achieve the 0-200 km/h sprint in a very impressive 8.2 seconds, which
makes it faster than the Ferrari 488 GTB by 0.2 seconds. Top speed is set at 328 km/h.
The new member of the very exclusive LongTail family
features a revised bodywork that includes an extended front splitter,
lengthened rear diffuser and a fixed rear wing, making it 74 mm longer than the
570S. The model-specific bodywork improves the aerodynamic performance in conjunction
with the flat carbon fiber floor in order to produce 100 kg of downforce at 250 km/h.
Customers will be able to spec their 600LT with the
optional Clubsport and Clubsport Pro packs for even lighter weight and a more
track-focused character. The former is a £ 24,170 option and adds a set of
lightweight carbon fiber racing seats, a carbon fiber interior upgrade that
includes extended gearshift paddles, carbon fiber roof and fender louvers,
titanium wheel bolts and more. The Clubsport Pro costs £ 28,480 and adds a
harness bar and six-point harnesses for track use.
The chassis has been upgraded with lighter and
stiffer suspension components from the 720S, while ride height has been reduced
by 8mm and the front track has been widened by 10mm. The suspension utilizes a set of
re-engineered variable adaptive dampers and anti-roll bars in order to perform
better with the new suspension geometry. The brake system features lightweight
brake calipers and stiffer carbon-ceramic disc, as well as a Senna-inspired
brake booster. There are two new designs for the ultra-lightweight alloy
wheels, which are shod in bespoke P Zero Trofeo R tires.
McLaren will start production of the 600LT this
October. The company says that availability will be “strictly limited”, thanks
to the new body panels requiring specialist tooling, but didn’t say how many it
will actually produce. Customers can order the new McLaren 600LT now -subject to
availability-, with prices in the UK starting from £ 185,500.
