The E3-series Cayenne has finally made its launch debut in Malaysia, with two variants up for grabs. The first is the base Cayenne, which has a base price of RM 745,000, while further up, you’ll arrive at the Cayenne S that goes for RM 890,000.

Under the bonnet, a 3.0 litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine powers the base Cayenne, serving up 335 hp at 5,300 to 6,400 rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 1,340 to 5,300 rpm. The Cayenne S gets more power from its 2.9 litre twin-turbo V6 rated at 434 hp at 5,700 to 6,600 rpm and 550 Nm at 1,800 to 5,500 rpm. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission and an active all-wheel drive system as standard. However, the Cayenne S also gets the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system with variable front/rear torque distribution.

In terms of performance, the Cayenne complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 6.2 seconds and hit a top speed of 245 km/h. Meanwhile, the S variant will complete the same run slightly quicker at 5.2 seconds, and achieve a higher top speed of 265 km/h. Cars equipped with the Sport Chrono Package will have 0.3 seconds slashed from their respective century sprint times. The optional package also includes a PSM Sport mode and Sport Response button on the steering wheel, which optimises the Cayenne for ultra-high responsiveness for 20 seconds.

In terms of equipment, the Cayenne comes with the Porsche Advanced Cockpit, which places two seven-inch displays beside the analogue tachometer in the instrument cluster. The centre-mounted, 12-inch touchscreen meanwhile, works with the car’s Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system that also contains the Porsche Connect functionality.

Also present is the latest Porsche Communication Management infotainment system that is linked to a 12.3-inch touchscreen display. Other items include LED headlamps (Porsche Dynamic Light System/Plus available as an option), Direct Touch Control interface on the centre console, leather upholstery, power seats and Park Assist. Both cars at the launch sport 21-inch wheels with staggered tyre sizes (285/40 front, 315/35 rear) – a first for the model.
