Early next year, Renault will launch a new SUV coupe
(codename: Renault LJC) in Russia. Kolesa.ru has created renderings to preview
the Renault SUV coupe’s design.
The Renault SUV coupe presented in the renderings
features a BMW X6-like bulbous body. At the front, it comes lavished with sharp
LED headlamps in an angular design, C-shaped LED DRLs, V-shaped signature upper
grille with the Diamond logo and a hood more flattish and positioned higher
than the Renault Kaptur’s.
The Renault SUV coupe’s lower body is very similar
to that of the Renault Captur, while the greenhouse is notably smaller. Its
roof steeply tapers from behind the B-pillar to merge into the extremely rakish
back glass. The angle of the back glass and the overall rear-end design are
strongly reminiscent of the Renault Megane Grand Coupe.
Renault will sell the SUV coupe in Russia, Brazil,
China and South Korea. Russia and Brazil, as well as the other markets (TBA) in
the CIS/Latin America region, will get a low-cost version riding on the dated
B0/Dacia Logan platform. China and South Korea will get an advanced and
costlier version underpinned by the CMF-B platform that will debut in the
Renault Clio V this year.
The Renault SUV coupe will debut in the concept form
at the 2018 Moscow International Motor Show in August. Renault is unlikely to
launch it in India. The Captur’s poor sales has put the company on the
back-foot with respect to variant extensions. It will instead likely work on
introducing the second generation Renault Duster to catch up with its SUV
volume projections.
