Hero Motocorp has launched the 2018 Hero Xtreme 200R
at INR 89,900, ex-Showroom, New Delhi, and will commence country-wide sales
with dispatches starting next week. The Xtreme 200R was earlier available only
in select North Eastern states (West Bengal, Tripura, Mizoram, and Assam) for
INR 88,000, ex-Showroom.
The Hero Xtreme 200R is a significant upgrade from
the 149 cc Xtreme Sports (which continues to be on sale). Power comes from an
air-cooled, two-valve single cylinder OHC engine with a displacement of 199.6
cc. Maximum power is rated at 18.4 PS at 8,000 rpm and peak torque at 17.1 Nm
at 6,500 rpm, paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The Xtreme 200R does not get fuel
injection and the engine is reported to be a heavily reworked unit of the
Achiever 150.
The Hero Xtreme 200R features a diamond type frame,
with telescopic hydraulic type (37 mm dia) suspension with antifriction bush at
the front and 7 step adjustable monoshock suspension for the rear. Braking
duties are taken care by a 276 mm disc at the front and a 220 mm disc at the
rear with a single channel ABS system. Hero has equipped the motorcycle with a
100/80 tire up front and a 130/70 at the rear, both measuring 17-inches at the
rim.
The Xtreme 200R undercuts its rivals on price. The
TVS RTR 200 4V is priced between INR 96,730 to INR 1.1 lakhs and the Bajaj
Pulsar NS 200 costs between INR 1 lakh to INR 1.12 lakhs. Up next, Hero
Motocorp has announced the launch of the Hero XPulse 200 as its next premium
offering.
