Maruti Suzuki has introduced the Maruti Dzire Special Edition, which gets a few added features with savings of INR 30,000. The special edition Dzire is based on the entry-level LXi/LDi variant, and adds features such as a 2-speaker music system with Bluetooth functionality, reverse parking sensors, front power windows, wheel cover and a central locking system.

The launch of the special edition coincides with the upcoming festive season which witnesses a spurt in vehicle sales. Given that this edition is based on the entry-level variant, it could also possibly mean that Maruti is trying to push stock of the base variant of the Dzire, as buyers increasingly prefer the mid- and top-end variants.

The entry-level Dzire is available with the 1.2-liter K-Series petrol engine and the 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine, but gets only the 5-speed manual transmission; the 5-speed automated manual transmission is available only from the VXi/VDi and upwards. Still, the gasoline engine develops 82 PS and 113 Nm of torque, and the diesel, 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque. As for mileage, the petrol is rated for 22 km/l and the diesel at 28.4 km/l.

In terms of creature comforts, the LXi and LDi variants of the Dzire are bare-bones. They get LED taillights, steel wheels, AC, multi-information display and tilt steering. However, even these base variants are equipped with dual front airbags, ABS, EBD and Brake Assist, engine immobilizer and ISOFIX child anchorages.

The Dzire Special Edition LXi is priced at INR 5.56 lakhs and the Dzire Special Edition LDi at INR 6.56 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
