Honda has launched
a special edition Honda City Sport in the Philippines that features a more
dynamic styling and additional equipment over the regular Honda City. The Honda
City Sport is equipped with a distinctive body kit comprising front, side and
rear under spoilers with which it gets a sportier stance. If that’s not enough
to recognise it as a sportier car, the ‘Sport Edition’ emblem is included in
the list of exterior features. The design of the underbody spoilers looks the
same as those offered under the Modulo accessory range.
The 15-inch alloy
wheels in the image suggest that the car is based on the most basic, E grade of
the regular Honda City. An interior difference between the E grade and the
Sport edition is that the latter’s sound system includes two tweeters in
addition to the four speakers.
The Honda City
Sport has no performance enhancements. The standard 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine
powers this special edition model, a naturally aspirated four-cylinder mill that
makes 120 PS at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm. A
continuously variable transmission sends power to the front wheels.
The regular Honda
City is available Lunar Silver Metallic, Gold Brown Metallic, Modern Steel
Metallic Ruby Red Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl and Taffeta White colours. The
Honda City Sport is available in only three of these colours: Modern Steel
Metallic, Ruby Red Pearl and Taffeta White.
The Honda City
Sport is a limited edition model, but Honda doesn’t say how many units it has
commissioned. It costs PHP 1,058,000. In addition to the Honda City Sport, Honda has introduced two more limited edition
models for its Filipino customers: Honda BR-V Touring and Honda Odyssey EX-V.
These models cost PHP 1,058,000 and PHP 2,428,000 respectively.
