Mahindra’s Truck and Bus division (MTBD) has unveiled a brand new commercial vehicle dubbed Furio, designed and engineered in Italy by Pininfarina. Furio marks Mahindra’s entry into the ICV segment, where it will showcase its efficient, light weight MDI Tech engine with FuelSmart technology. Its production will take place at a world class manufacturing facility in Chakan, near Pune, India.

The most innovative thing when it comes to the Furio is the previously-mentioned MDI Tech engine, where its FuelSmart technology boasts multi-mode switches that optimize consumption while taking into account load and road conditions. The power unit is also said to offer high torque at low RPMs.

Development on the Furio began back in 2014 and it involved more than 500 Mahindra employees, about 180 suppliers and over 1,000 performance tests.
