Termed by its maker as a “muscle motorcycle”, the
2018 Moto Guzzi Audace Carbon is now in Malaysia and priced at RM 123,000. The
basis of the Audace Carbon is the same as the base model Audace, save for some
carbon-fibre fittings that differentiate it.
The entirety of the Audace carbon is murdered out in
matte black, set off by the contrasting red paint on the cylinder head covers,
front Brembo brake callipers, stitching on the seat and lettering on the wheel
rims. Aside from that, the side panels on the fuel tank and the front mudguard
are made from carbon-fibre.
Motive power comes from the 90-degree transverse
V-twin, with 1,380 cc producing 96 hp at 6,500 rpm and 121 Nm of torque. The
mill is Euro 4 compliant and power gets to the ground via a six-speed gearbox.
Power is controlled from the ride-by-wire throttle
giving the Audace Carbon ride modes and traction control, along with cruise
control in terms of riding aids. The three ride modes on the Audace Carbon are
Veloce, Turismo and Pioggia, translating to Sport, Touring and Rain.
Weighing in at an all-up weight of 299 kg, the
Audace Carbon carries fuel in a 20.5-litre tank and seat height is 740 mm, with
a 720 mm low seat being an extra cost option. Rolling on an 18-inch wheel in
front and a 16-inch hoop at the back, the Audace Carbon uses telescopic forks
and twin pre-load and compression adjustable shock absorbers with remote
reservoirs for suspension duties.
Braking is done on the Audace Carbon by twin 320 mm
discs and single 282 mm disc, front and rear, respectively, grabbed by Brembo
callipers.
