The eighth-gen
Toyota Camry has reached Indonesia for local testing, spy media shared by
Instagram user newbi_id with Autonetmagz has revealed. The redesigned model was
introduced in January 2017. For the eighth generation Toyota Camry’s design,
Toyota has taken a more unified approach. There’s largely the same design
serving all markets. The redesigned D-segment sedan measures 4,885 mm in
length, 1,840 mm in width and 1,455 mm in height. It has a 2,825 mm wheelbase.
It rides on the GA-K version of the TNGA platform.
The latest Toyota
Camry is available with 2.0-, 2.5- and 3.5-litre petrol engines globally.
Thirdly there is the Hybrid variant which uses a combination of a 2.5-litre
petrol engine and an electric motor. The latest Toyota Camry Hybrid uses the
all-new TNGA-based A25A-FX 2.5-litre Dynamic Force engine that produces 178 PS
and 221 Nm of torque with the 3NM electric motor that generates 120 PS and 202
Nm of torque. It has an impressive fuel economy rating (JC08 mode) of 33.4
km/l.
On the outside, the
sedan features LED headlamps with AHB function, LED fog lamps, 19-inch alloy
wheels, LED rear combination lamps, shark-fin antenna and panoramic glass roof.
Dual-zone automatic climate control, 7-inch MID, 10-inch colour head-up
display, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and leather-trimmed seats and
steering wheel are among the interior highlights.
The eighth
generation Toyota Camry will likely go on sale in ASEAN markets in the last
quarter of the calender year. Toyota is testing the latest model in Thailand as
well. In India, it may arrive in the first half of 2019.
