What you’re looking at could be a new Bugatti model
which we thought may never see the light of day; a four-door. This single image was published
on Twitter, though it has since been removed. However, Carscoops’ reader Marco
saved it and sent it over to us. The car was apparently snapped outside Bugatti’s Design Studio in
Wolfsburg, Germany.
Up front, similarities between this vehicle and the
Chiron are obvious with the marque’s familiar horseshoe grille and headlights
which appear identical to the Chiron. However, the car’s wheelbase appears
significantly longer and there seems to be side windows much larger than you’d
expect to find on a coupe. The roof also seems more elongated than existing
Bugatti models.
All indications point towards it being some kind of
previously-unseen Bugatti. This could mean it is a concept or a production
model but it definitely appears large enough to comfortably hold four
passengers.
One curious thing about the vehicle pictured is that
if it is a sedan, the short front-end clearly isn’t large enough to support an
engine, ruling out the possibility of the vehicle being a direct descendant of
the front-engine Galibier concept from almost a decade ago. Instead, it appears
as if the vehicle adopts a mid-engine layout.
In an interview with Automotive News last year,
former Bugatti president Wolfgang Durheimer said the idea of a four-door
Bugatti isn’t dead and appeared to leave the door open for the Chiron’s
successor to be a sedan of some kind.
