The 2019 Audi A6 Avant is one of the best looking
wagons in its segment and the S6 Avant is primed to be both beauty and beast. Recently snapped undisguised
outside Audi’s technical center, the S6 Avant is a handsome looking wagon that
doesn’t shout about its performance credentials. While the overall design is
fairly restrained, there are some subtle styling cues which separate it from
the more mainstream wagon.
The front of the car has been equipped with a
sportier bumper which features more aggressive air intakes. The modest changes
continue out back as the wagon has a new bumper with a faux diffuser. If the
design looks familiar, it should as the S6 Avant is virtually identical to the
A6 Avant with the S line exterior package.
Despite sharing a similar appearance, there’s one
telltale sign that isn’t your ordinary A6 Avant. We’re of course talking about
the car’s four-tailpipe exhaust system which hints at something pretty powerful
under the hood. The production model should also have a handful of other unique
styling touches including a slightly revised grille and faux-aluminum mirror
caps. We can also expect unique wheels and plenty of S6 badging.
The minor styling changes should carry over to the
cabin where we can expect a sport steering wheel, a revised instrument cluster
and alloy pedals. Drivers can also look forward to unique trim and upholstery
combinations.
There’s still a bit of uncertainly as to what will
power the model, but one possible candidate is the twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 that
resides in the RS5 Coupe. In that particular car, it develops 444 hp and 600 Nm of torque. There have been rumors that the
engine will be upgraded for use in the S6, but nothing is official as of yet.
