Remember the 2014-2016 Fiat 500 1957 Edition
inspired by the original Nuova Cinquecento? Well, American buyers apparently
liked it so much, they asked Fiat to bring it back. The automaker was only too happy
to oblige, announcing that the 1957 Edition is coming back in both hatchback
and cabrio body styles.
Based on the Fiat 500 Lounge grade, the special
edition version brings a vintage look courtesy of 16-inch retro-inspired wheels
(available in White, Green or Blue), a retro fascia with bright inserts, and
retro Fiat badging.
You can also recognize the 1957 Edition thanks to
the Ivory door-trim panels, white mirror caps, two-tone paint with a white roof
on hatchback models, and black soft top on cabrio models. Finally, the exterior
colors are also pretty strong clues, as the 500 1957 Edition is only available
in Celeste Blue (Retro Light Blue), Chiaro (Light Green) and Bianco Ice (White)
paints.
The interior pays homage to the 1957 model with an
Avorio (Ivory) environment in contrast with the Marrone (Brown) leather seats.
The two colors are everywhere inside the cabin, including on the
leather-wrapped steering wheel, seat stitching, door panels, and leather shift
boot. Finally, the unique key fob adds to the retro theme.
The Fiat 500 1957 Edition features the standard
500’s 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine rated at 135 hp and 203 Nm of
torque. Compared to the 2014-2016 model, the 1957 Edition now has 34 more
horsepower. Customers can choose between a five-speed manual
transmission and a six-speed auto.
The special edition package is coming to U.S.
dealerships this fall priced at US$ 995. Factor in the Lounge model’s starting
MSRP of US$ 19,745 and you can have the 1957 Edition from US$ 20,740, excluding a US$ 1,295 destination fee.
