The Blue Oval is celebrating the 50th anniversary of
the GT40’s win at Le Mans by unveiling the 2019 Ford GT Heritage Edition. Dressed in a Gulf livery, the
limited edition model features exposed carbon fiber on A-pillars as well as
exclusive 20-inch forged aluminum wheels with a high-gloss dark stainless
finish. The styling changes don’t stop there as the model has been equipped
with silver mirror caps, orange brake calipers and black lug nuts.
Buyers can further embrace the racing theme by
ordering exposed carbon fiber numbers on the doors and hood. 2019 models will
be offered with No. 9 graphics to pay tribute to the GT40 that won Le Mans in
1968. Likewise, the 2020 Ford GT Heritage Edition will have No. 6 graphics to honor
the car which won the race in 1969.
Moving in the cabin, the Heritage Edition has Ebony
colored Alcantara upholstery on the seats, instrument panel, headliner, pillars
and steering wheel. Drivers will also find blue and orange contrast stitching
as well as high-gloss dark stainless accents. There are also a new seat
embossments inspired by the car that won Le Mans in 1968. Rounding out the changes are a
serialized identification plate and exposed matte carbon fiber on the door
sills and center console.
Since the Heritage Edition is essentially a styling
package, the car’s 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine carries over and continues to
produce 647 hp and 744 Nm of torque. It is
connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission which enables the car to
hit a top speed of 347 km/h.

Joe Hinrichs, said “The 1968 GT40 quickly became a global sensation after
beating its European competitors on the track four times in a row, and in honor
of the 50th anniversary of its win, we’re paying fresh tribute to the original
with a new heritage limited edition.”
