Honda’s 2019 Civic Sedan and Coupe models gain
several styling and content updates for the new model year. Arriving in U.S.
dealerships from October 10, the 2019 Civics receive a new Sport grade,
standard Honda Sensing technology on all trims, and subtle styling updates
inside and out.
To quickly get the design tweaks out of the way,
Honda has given the 2019 Civic smoked headlights, a gloss black “wing” element
on the grille, new chrome accents on the front bumper, and a chrome strip on
the Sedan’s lower bumper. The Touring trim’s LED headlamps (below) also get a
new design for a wider and longer beam. Exterior updates also include the
addition of three new colors: Platinum White Pearl, Molten Lava Pearl (Sedan only),
and Tonic Yellow Pearl (Coupe only).
Interior tweaks are limited to an upgraded Display
Audio infotainment system (standard on Sport grade and above). The interface
gains a volume knob and physical buttons for key functions, as well as improved
Bluetooth integration. All grades get redesigned steering wheel controls for a
more intuitive operation, as well as a new center console cupholder that can
hold larger beverages.
Updated dash trim is also on the menu and comes in
gunmetal gray for LX models (plus EX for Coupe), metallic finish for EX, EX-L
and Touring sedans (Touring only for Coupe), and with an embossed finish on
Sport trims. Finally, Honda says additional sound insulation has been added to
the floor, trunk, and front fenders, as well as new sound insulation in the
rear fenders.
The newly-introduced Sport model slots between the
LX and EX grades and brings a more distinctive appearance thanks to details
such as the larger 18-inch rims, black-painted decklid spoiler, Civic Si-styled
center-mounted chrome exhaust tip, and Sport badging.
Inside, the Sport trim adds red gauges, a
leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, paddle shifter for CVT-equipped
models, textured aluminum sport pedals, and unique upholstery combining
synthetic leather and cloth.
Safety-wise, besides the standard Honda Sensing
suite that includes automatic high beams, the 2019 Civic also gets an
electronic parking brake with automatic Brake Hold feature and a 7-inch digital
TFT instrument cluster as standard.
Civic EX models gain standard
dual-zone automatic climate control with new fan speed buttons, with the Civic
EX Sedan also receiving an 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat and
leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. The Touring trim adds new 18-inch
alloys, paddle shifters with the CVT and sports pedals.
2019 Honda Civic Sedan and Coupe in LX and Sport
trims feature a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes
158 hp and 187 Nm of torque. The unit is linked to either six-speed
manual or CVT transmissions. The CVT-equipped Civic EX, EX-L, and Touring get a
1.5-liter turbo-four rated at 174 hp and 219 Nm of torque.
Prices start from US$ 20,345 for the Sedan LX with
manual transmission and Us$ 21,545 for the Coupe LX with CVT (including US$ 895
destination).
