The clock is ticking for the world debut of the new BMW X7, which is
set to be revealed in the upcoming weeks and thanks to countless scoops,
teasers and leaks, we already have a pretty good idea of what to expect.
BMW says that their Range Rover rival will offer
“superior driving dynamics” combined with “exceptionally generous interior
space”. Being the biggest and most expensive SUV the German car maker will
offer, the new BMW X7 will also offer the absolute best in technology, luxury
and exclusive features.
The dashboard is typical BMW as expected, with the
X7 featuring the company’s latest infotainment system and digital instrument
cluster, a combo that debuted with the 8-Series. Judging by the provided
photos, the interior looks almost ready for production; we say almost because
apparently BMW hasn’t installed yet the right software into the X7’s infotainment
system, since it shows an image of the 5-Series on the touchscreen display,
instead of itself.
The design of the X7’s dashboard also mixes elements
from the 7- and 8-Series, with the center console hosting the same arrangement
with the latter, including the new shifter for the automatic transmission. The
test car pictured here features a two-tone leather interior, wood inlays,
ambient lighting and subtle metal details.
The 2019 BMW X7 will be offered with a range of
known powertrains, including a 335 hp 3.0-liter straight-six and a 456 hp
4.4-liter V8. Reports suggest that the flagship BMW SUV will also debut a
plug-in hybrid powertrain while customers in Europe and other select regions
will also have a choice between two diesel options.
BMW is expected to reveal the new X7 this October,
with a public debut most likely scheduled for the Los Angeles Auto Show in
November.
